A basic off-grid system consists of solar panels to generate DC power, a battery bank that stores the DC power, and an inverter.

Solar Panels


To increase power output, cells are electrically connected into a packaged weather-tight solar panel.  Panels are then connected to form an arrangement, known as a grid-tied system.  The number of panels connected together depends on the amount of power output needed. 

Batteries


Off-grid PV systems use rechargeable batteries to store excess electricity. The size of the battery bank required will depend on the storage capacity required, the maximum discharge rate, the maximum charge rate, and the minimum temperature at which the batteries will be used.

Charge Controllers

Electron uses fully computerized MPPT or Maximum Power Point Tracking Mechanism change controllers.  This computer board technology allows the solar panels to reach their maximum output capacity, saving you dollars in extra panels saved.  This is the finest technology available on market today.  We also sell all lines of regular charge controllers for smaller applications in international markets.

Inverter

Every Electron Solar system includes an inverter, which converts the electricity produced by the solar panels from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), which is the kind of electricity you use in your home.  When the sun is up, the solar panels generate power to charge batteries and provide electricity. At night, the inverter runs your electrical equipment from your battery bank.  The system can also be used as part of a backup power system by using batteries to store power and an inverter to supply AC power from the batteries.

Utility net metering:

Your Electron Solar System connects to your main electrical panel. A meter tracks net energy usage, which can generate a credit when your system creates more electricity than required.
